PART II - THE BASEMENT
With very little substantial activity on the upper floor, we decided to investigate the basement - an area where many lodge members feared to go.
Access to the basement can be found in a hallway just past the bar, making it easy for bartenders and staff to be able reach the storage areas and tap room. The stairs are in the same state of disrepair as the ones above, proof that very little updates have been done to the interior of the building over the years.
The first room we enter is large and concrete with a low ceiling, not unlike many basements in downtown Cheyenne, and nothing to boast about. The first doorway we see lies just to our right and leads to a completely different room. Impressive in length and packed with various tables, chairs and pool tables, it gave the impression of a dance hall. The walls still held old pool game displays and other various decorations, giving off a creepy-yet-still-cheerful vibe. We decided to make this a central location for the team, setting up a few tables for our equipment and for us to sit. Two team members were to stay stationed in what we called "the pool room" while myself and Amanda explored other areas.
Our first few attempts at communication didn't provide too much insight and we decided to branch out, breaking up into two teams. This wasn't just to be able to cover more ground but for safety reasons as well. The other side of the basement was broken up into several rooms shot-gunned, one after another, meaning that there were several doors that would be between us. If at any point a door were to shut or get jammed, there would always be someone on the other side to assist with opening it.
Luckily, we were able to get much of this on video....
Stay by my side...
