She lived there before I moved in."

That thing didn't appear until after I saged."

"...we were putting a screw in the wall to hang a picture in my bedroom, and heard a giant crash and an entire shelf that was held up by four screws came off my wall in the bathroom and broke my candle. Same wall...but only two screws on the bedroom side. I wonder if we were pushing them into each other, but it still doesn't make sense. Also my puppy is barking non stop right now from my hallway by my bedroom to the living room to the kitchen to the backyard and back and forth."

"Do you have any idea of what is going on in my house? I am really struggling lately. Like getting barely three hours of sleep a night, this morning I told Amy maybe the things in my house are trying to help me and I'm not supposed to make them leave and she was like do you hear what you're saying? Last night you cried bc you were so overwhelmed and this morning now you're saying maybe it should stay? And I said oh wow, ya I hear you.

Yesterday I could hear something that sounded like buzzing like a swarm of flies but I could only hear it in like two different places with my right ear blocked...she could hear it today and similarly just on one ear but in a different room...and yesterday or day before she said she randomly smelled a dead body in my kitchen. It was like a flash of it, we couldn't find anything that smelled bad anywhere. I did the palo santo and sage and black sage yesterday...when we got back it still felt so heavy. I didn't even want to come in my house or go to my room."

"None of it. I'm at Amy's. I took my dogs too. It doesn't feel safe outside anymore."

"Amy brought over some solar lanterns for me to hang outside before it got dark, and she was visibly disoriented inside my house, got a headache and (nauseous) immediately, and if I sent her inside for anything like a pair of pliers, if I told her exactly where they were, by the time she walked across the living room she was lost and couldn't remember what I told her. She was in there for like three times as long as she should have been and I went in after her and she was just standing in the kitchen staring at the wall super confused."

"We were both even affected by it in the doorways and on my porches."

"It's like it intensifies every time I do anything. I bought a bunch of lavender plants yesterday and string lights for my bedroom and my shower, put some behind my living room curtains too. I painted over all the mats that say welcome, took down my decorative sign that says welcome home, painted over my piece that says come in and get cozy...I did the palo santo and black salt yesterday before I left to shop for plants and I wasn't able to fall asleep until almost 4:30 am."

"Then today, putting up the lights over my shower and taking a bath, and putting up the lanterns and lights on my porches this evening before dark is what made me feel so horrible...I just kept getting more and more tense and started feeling like I was (nauseous). Then hanging the lights up I was getting light headed and really close to vomiting by the time I literally grabbed my stuff and dogs and left. I was also starting to get disoriented packing my things in my bedroom."

"...and she said she saw a man in her periphery when she got in my car to load up my dogs tonight. And the last few days I've been feeling something pull at my clothes all day. Just inside my house mostly. And she keeps dropping her rosary everywhere. I have found it three times since yesterday."

We've all felt it. You walk into a space and instantly it hits you. You feel heavy, a sinking feeling sits inside your chest, it gets harder to breathe and your head starts to swim. What causes this? Perhaps you're walking into a situation of high tension, maybe you're nervous about seeing someone or you're about to speak in front of a crowd. Maybe you're afraid or maybe, just maybe, a small demon with a spiky tail is sitting on your chest and taking the very life out of you.

Our team for this investigation included myself, Kaitlyn (a diviner) and Vi (a "medium-in-training" as she calls herself and demonologist). Several days before our trip to Guernsey we held a meeting to discuss the events occurring in the home as well as our thoughts and speculations. Several theories arose, including more practical reasons of sleep deprivation, medication side effects and sleep paralysis. Although validity exists in varying degrees for each theory, we kept circling back to the supernatural, particularly regarding Gina's spiky-tailed creature.

The drive there was a pleasant one, discussing our plan and intentions once entering the home. We agreed to attempt to talk the owner, Gina, prior to crossing the threshold and attempt to gain more insight on the present state and events leading up to the first incident. The neighborhood is a mix of newer and older homes, very much the small-town atmosphere many imagine. Across the street is an open field, a row of small homes and just beyond that the North Platte River, you can even hear the rush of water when it's quiet enough.

Our plan did not go as accepted, however. Our hostess seemed far too preoccupied to even talk with us, leaving us no choice but to enter on our own accord, not even meeting us at the door. She was constantly moving about and cleaning, fixing things here and there. At one point she asked if doing her laundry in the middle of the investigation would interfere. This air of the place was odd at best and there was that feeling...that sinking, heavy feeling in our chests. It was almost dizzying.

With little assistance from our hostess we began our investigation, seeking out specific areas of increased activity or "hot spots". The home is a modest 2 bedroom, one bath and sandwiched right between two other homes similar in stature. The areas of noted interest were the front entry, the northeast corner of the kitchen and the bathroom. Moving through each area individually, we attempted communication through various methods including dowsing rods, pendulum work, a spirit box and intuition. Collectively, we gathered that the presence there was female (the owner and her guests have reported a male) that was non-malevolent (contradictory to the overall feeling and reports from others). We attempted to link the energy to the possible history of the house and surrounding area with no luck. Things just weren't making sense.

We decided to proceed with the banishing, clearing, re-energizing and protection of the home. It didn't take much for that heavy feeling to leave the team but when we asked Gina, she stated that she still felt really bad. We suggested that she take a walk, a break from the space and return in short while. After she stepped out, we discussed possible causes for her lack of improvement and came to the conclusion that negative energy was still sitting within her. When she returned, we performed negative energy removal from her and provided her with some helpful tips on maintaining the vibrational state of the house.

We packed our things, wished her well and continued onto the next investigation.

Now allow me to backtrack. Quite some time ago, Meg and I completed a different house blessing in Cheyenne, Wyoming that we refer to as The Bailey Fae House. Forgive me, I am still getting caught up on writing about the blog investigations and have yet to finish telling you about that event. Here is the abbreviated, bare-bones explanation of that investigation.

This was the second investigation into the Bailey Fae House. The first, for all intents and purposes, went very well and my goal for it had been completed. I did make one mistake, though. After communicating, clearing and re-energizing the space, I forgot to put up any protective barriers i.e. I did not put measures in place to prevent the entrance of anything unwanted.

The family experienced a period of peace but activity resumed shortly after and in some instances, worse than before.

Meg and I weren't sure what we were walking into and decided to do a full sweep of the home as a failsafe. The basement, where activity had been detected before, seemed pretty void of anything supernatural. We concluded that the space remained clear and moved upstairs to where the family reported unexplained noises and moving objects - the master bedroom and bathroom.

As we were sitting on the edge of the corner tub and chatting, a shadow flew by on the wall, causing us both to turn our heads in the direction of the closet. Keep in mind that there are no roads in this area aside from mostly private drives and the bathroom windows are facing away from any public eye and not low enough for anyone walking by could see or be seen. There was no logical explanation for the shadow at the time. I decided to take up station on the closet floor while Meg remained on the tub edge. Once inside the closet, I saw the shadow again. This time more defined and crawling on the wall and eventually onto the ceiling. The shape was small (like the size of a young infant) and reminded me of the gecko's at my old house in Tucson, slowly crawling on the wall to settle into a dark corner above the clothing racks. It stayed there for quite some time until moving toward the door and exiting into the master bedroom.

Is this sounding familiar? Although the descriptions aren't exact, they have substantial similarities. Both shadow figures, both creatures with a tail seen on a wall. The question is, how could two similar experiences be happening 80 miles from each other and several years apart? I decided to look more into the physical locations of the home and found something interesting.

Those locations are located directly north and south of each other. If we zoom out further, we found that other well-known paranormal hotspots are located directly on this line including Devil's Tower in northern Wyoming and Roswell, NM.

Ley Lines, Demons and Shapeshifters,

Oh My!

Considered by some scholars to be just a pseudo-science, there is a large population that believe that the straight lines connecting significant landmarks, monuments, historic structures, etc. are not mere coincidence. Instead, they believe that they have been purposefully built on unseen pathways of high vibrational energy.

The concept of ley lines were first introduced to the public in the early 1920s by photographer and amateur archeologist, Alfred Watkins. Although his ideas were an instant hit they weren't exactly new. Some 50 years before, William Henry Black theorized that geometric lines connected monuments all over western Europe. In 1870, Black spoke about "grand geometrical lines across the country". It is also said that when more that where two more lines converge, you have a place of great power and energy.

Could this be the reason for the connection between the two homes? We here at The Senders are continuing to further our research into the subject and plan on including the concept in our future investigations.

It is said that belief in demons may go back as far as the Paleolithic Age, stemming from human fear of the unknown, the strange and horrific. However, the Ancient Greek word daimōn did not carry negative connotations, paralleled to Ancient Egyptian, it denotes a spirit or divine power with a purpose to deliver messages to humans. In Western occultism and Renaissance magic, a demon is believed to be a spiritual entity that may be conjured and controlled.

Belief in demons remains an important part of many modern religions and occultist traditions. Demons are still feared largely due to their alleged power to possess living creatures.

The idea of shapeshifting is in the oldest forms of totemism and shamanism, as well as the oldest existent literature and epic poems such as the Epic of Gilgamesh and The Iliad. The concept spanning across continents an centuries, stories of shapeshifters have remained prominent throughout history.

In our attempts to understand what possible went on at the North Platte house as well as a better understanding at the events of Bailey Fae, our research led us to a particular, shapeshifting demon that fits both the physical description and the MO (modus operandi) of our mysterious crawling shadow.

Germanic folklore tells us of a malicious entity, a mare, that rides on people's chests while they sleep, bringing nightmares and bringing a feeling of great pressure or tightness. Across many beliefs, the mare is a shapeshifter, ranging from human forms to various animals.

We, The Senders, have concluded that based off of the case presented to us and our own experience, something similar to a mare had inhabited and was feeding off of and to the fear of the owner and her acquaintances. That it preyed on the stress, anxiety and trauma of those in it's presence when threatened with banishment. This resulted into the shapeshifting of a frightening man or creature while around Gina and her friends (see text entry on Aug 2) and into a harmless, female entity while in the presence of our team in attempt to distract or thwart our efforts.
